I'm looking into buying one for the drivetrain. From what I read, the rear should be either a dana 60 or a dana 61. How can I tell the difference between the 2?
Also, what front axle should it have, as well as t-case and transmission (manual)?

Examine the housing closely, the webbing will say 60 or 61. If it is a 1 ton, it will have a 60 front. 3/4 is anybodies guess, but if you cant tell by looking at it, post again.

3/4 ton would have a twin traction beam (not solid) front axle with leaf springs...

auto tranny would be a c6, manual i'm not really sure, could be a t-18 or an np435...

tcase could be a np205, but by 80 they may have moved to the borg warner units...i know that 80 was the body style change year but i'm not sure if all the drivetrain stuff changed...

mac 'my early 80 ford knowledge is limited' gyvr
