I've got an '89 Nissan Sentra, 1.6L, when you step on the gas it'll spool up right away, but hits about 1200rpm (thats a guess) and then pulses, like the fuels on then off then on then off...like vroom vroom vroom vroom, almost like a rev limiter...there were two rubber things i took out of the distributor, cause i broke one, i'm wondering if theres supposed to be a vacuum created in the housing of the distributor and those pieces are the culprit...anyone know anything about these?

Can you take a pic of what your talkig about? One thing you have to watch on Nissan is the MAF Sensor, and tps there trouble makers...

When you say spool you are talking about the turbo? If not I would look into getting both of those rubber rings you were talking about from nissan as the problem started after those rings were taken out right? Otherwise I would with wickedwild and the Throttle Position Sensor. If you had disconnected the air cleaner you may have forgotten to reconnect the MAF Sensor.
Did you could check the relay. . . . .
