I don't see a thing wrong with that. Warn makes a damn good winch, probably the best out there.

I've had that winch for 5 years now and it is awesome. Warn customer service is top notch as well. I had an electrical connection on the relay box corrode away about two years out of warranty and they fixed it for free. I just had to pay to ship the cover to their factory. I will never buy another brand.

if you don't mind my continuing your thread-but if I get around to purchasing a winch, I'll be looking for one that I can hook to my jeep, my truck, or the tractor. You think an 8,000 lb winch is big enough to A) pull a 3/4 ton truck with a cummins out of a hole, or 2) pull a 2040 john deere tractor with a bush-hog out of a hole.

Just thought I'd check. - Thanks!

Wish List: some sort of scangauge, muffler & CAT delete, Walbro fuel pump & marine fuel filter, Feed the Beast mod (have fittings already)

The general consensus is to get a winch rated for 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle that you want to mount it to. for the Jeep, which probably weighs close to 4k, you'd be fine with a 6-8k winch. However, your truck probably weighs in close to 7k or so; therefore you'd really want a 10k-12k winch. I have no clue what the tractor would weigh.
If I were you I'd probably go with something in the 9.5 k range, then always be sure to use a snatch block or two with the truck or tractor.
