I am thinking about getting a winch before the snow piles up this winter. What winch do you folks like? I won't use the winch that much probably, but would like to have it to pull myself out of trouble. I have not wheeled my Jeep too much in fear of being stranded, so this would lead to more wheelin' I am sure and more winch use. :) I am leaning toward Mile Marker for the price, but not set in my ways just yet. I also have the factory bumper and tow hooks, so would the winch mount up ok (weight, fit, function) with the right bracket? I am also considering a new front bumper and winch set up eventually. I won't have the money to do both bumper and winch right now, so I need a winch that will mount to the factory bumper now and an aftermarket bumper later. I don't have to have a new set up either, so if you have a lead on something used, I am open for offers. thanks in advance for the feedback.

Where is a good place to find a winch? (online, local, downtown, beer house, Showgirl.... :)

No winch will mount to your factory bumper, you'll have to get a winch plate.
With that being said, Mile Markers are descent winches for the money, I know several people that have ran them with alot of luck, can't say what thier quality control is any more though, because I believe they are now manufactured in China.
I would recomend Warn, they are the best winches out there, period.

i have a 8000lb winch from harbor freight paid about $350 for it but you have to get the wrangler mounting plate for it with is an extra $50. have used it probly 10 times to get out of a jam with no problems. plus its nice to pull trees down so they don't fall on a house before you cut em. not to mention the time i had to pull a broken 0 turn mower up a hill. handy little device not just for wheelin...

Ya, nothing will bolt to your bumper, ebay for winch plates. Also, dont know how "quality" they are, but look into the smittybuilt winches if you dont plan on using it too much. It doesnt have a fast pull, but 04willys on here has one that i know of, and hes used it without any mechanical issues yet. He snapped a line once, but that wasnt the winches fault, it was poor reccomendation by another person. But, i say to look into them cuz they are decently priced. If you want great quality though, Warn's the way to go. An 8,000lb should do ya good
