i got a 78 amc 360 that was in my 78 chief but the trans was bad so i tried to upgrade to a 727 out of a 88 grand waggy but every time i put the 2 together and tried to run my jeep the pump in the trans would go bye bye would love to marry these up but not sure if i can got a dana 300 transfer case on that trans i would love to run also anyone got any ideas would love the input :doh:

its possible the input shafts are different lenghts, and the torque converter isn't seating fully on the pump.
Did you use the torque converter that came with the old trans or the new one?

I know the AMC cars from the 80s had lock-up converters, which likely have a different converter. Not sure about the trucks, but they probably did too. :?

i did not use the old torque converter i had to actually buy a new one for that trans neglected to get the converter off of the siezed motor it was mounted on and io havent tried to use the one that came with the jeep when i bought it so not sure if that would work
