i ran a set of swamper ltb's and only got about 15,000 miles out of the set. they are now smooth in the center tread but still do OK i guess in mud. the only thing that saves my ass is the outer tread blocks. i've been looking into buying a new set of tires and i've been looking at the TrXus MT's and the swamper tsl radials and haven't been able to make the choice.

they are. Some sets only take 4 or 5 ounces....some call for over 20 per tire. Not every set is that bad though.

The other thing is keep them rotateded often.

i think the next set o' tires i get will be the TrXus MT's. 33x12.50 will be the size for me and at 134.00 ea. plus shipping they are somewhat easy on the wallet too. (price from tyres1.com)

John and I ran into a group of jeepers at the badlands about a year ago. Their whole group ran the trxus mt's and loved them. That will be my next tire if I get another jeep.

Well, one problem with the LTB's is that they made them from a very soft compound, and they are not a radial tire, if you want tread life, i recommend the TSL Super Swampers in the Radial. More expensive than the TSL's but, they'll last a long time, i had a set on a 3/4 ton chevy that weighed 7500 pounds, and when i sold it they had 13,000 ish miles on them and almost no wear yet

I got a set of Super Sport HT from Walmart a couple years ago and so far no complaints. I ran over a cut off metal fence post and sliced one of the lugs beyond repair and it got warrantied without question. Cost me under $2 to get a new one to replace it, for disposal fee. There wasn't hardly any wear on it yet, they measured.

Image

Damn, the price went up some since I got mine, $144.83 each. I think I paid about $104 or so.

EDIT: I got them from the Bluffton store, if that matters.

Mind you, I work at BF Goodrich, so I always support the BFG's. That said, if there were another tire I would concider, it would be the Nitto Terra Grapplers. Sexy tire, and I have a bud who had some on a pickup, they were a nice, almost quite ride on the street.

i've heard from a few people including tuffjar that they are an oversized street tire. i bet if you cut them up you could get them better.
also, is this something you would be running on the street all the time?

yes they suck. A few years back a buddy had them in 33's on his YJ....total turds.

Since I've started working a 4WP's I've sold 3 sets of them, 2 have come back with warranty issues....unblanceable and seperation of tread....and those were complete sets not just "ah" tire. I avoid them like the plague.

First off, I'm not puttin what I paid for my Krawlers up on the internet, 'cause it's just plain sick

As far as a BFG sponsorship, dial 1-800-RACE BFG and see what you can do, PUJeeper.

Thornturds,

wanna try em?

I'll sell ya a set of 4 with about 60-70 percent tread for 300 bones, 33/15?/15 WITH RIMS (wide five pattern)

A tire that I would highly highly recommend for the price is the Dunlop Mud Trac. I've had mulitiple sets of them now and they are a damn good tire on and off road. I've got over 20,000 miles on the set on our Tahoe and atleast 75% tread left, had over 10,000 miles on my other set and Sandman is running them happily now. They kick ass in the mud, I would put them up against any tire I've owned, and they've got damn good road manners. Did I mention that you can normally find them cheap

My street tires are dunlop radial rovers. They are the allterrain version. They are excellent tires and served me well. I used to wheel with them before I had the boggers and they were pretty decent offroad also. Dunlop makes good tires for cheap. :tu2:
