turns out clutch is ok but my transmission will not go into first gear?? If i push really hard and hold the shifter forward it will work but as soon as i let off it jumps out. it seems like there is not enough throw on the shifter any ideas????

If the shifter is sloppy, it's possible that the plastic shift rod bushing at the bottom of the shift lever is worn or cracked.
