Yep, it's that time again. It's time for the 4th annual Jeepininin.com Turkey Run! Traditionally, we do this the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

If we get enough of a turnout, would anybody be willing to look into getting some stickers printed up? I know in 04 we had some done that looked like our Jeepininin.com stickers, but had a turkey on the inside of them. Would anybody still happen to have that graphic laying around? What's the air speed velocity of a coconut laiden swallow?

It's whatever you want to do. :)

Personally, I'm planning on a 1 day down and wheel and back. It's gruelling, but it's a tradition. :)

Well that is Sarah's weekend off. She has to work on turkey day. So ill talk it over with her. If she wants to go see family, ill try and stay here, and go. She would stay all weekend so I would turn the house into a jeepininin hostel. If some of you want to come out for Friday we can all go to hooters, or your choice of food eating (beer drinking) establishment.

I will talk it over with her, and she knows that this was going to be coming up, so its not new news to her, but since she has to work on t-day i want to make sure its on the ok side.

Ill keep you posted

Unfortunately, there's no way I could take the time off work. Afterall, if I won't let my employees have it off, I can't take it off either.

However, I would be up for a get together of sorts on Saturday afternoon/evening. Blue, keep us posted. :2up:

Did we do one on this board in 03? Or was that in the Qtec days?

Depending on what the family is doing, how i'm situated up in IL, and if my jeep is running...i'm going to try and make it.

I'll still have the 35c in and also live in the Fort. I'd like to trailer, but I usually end up driving down / up every time I go.

there's been a few offers from guys on the board to bring someone back if they break...it involves a bit of gas money though.

How often do you all see breakage? I know if you not breaking parts your not trying hard enough, but I need my Jeep to get to work, even if I get a trailer ride home :)

Well it looks like I am out for the even numbered years for a little while. I will have my girls those years and until the little one gets older I refuse to take her wheeling. So I am definatley in next year.

Right on. I feel like my Jeep can do pretty well after playin' at the Brooks lot on Sunday. I only have to back down if my daughter starts screaming at me or my wife rips to oh S**T handle off the dash :)

If ya dont feel comfortable, dont do it. And if it starts hopping while your trying something, stop. That will lead to breakage in a hurry.

If your constantly breaking things, its not that you are trying hard enough, its that youre doing more than your rig is capable of and you either need to upgrade or stick to what you can do. you can have plenty of fun without breaking stuff....unless its an old ass, pre-abused, previously un-maintained Jeep like mine lol.

right on. I have been wheelin' enough to know what to do, but it was always with something you could beat on a little bit. It was never a hour away or more and we could always walk back up to the house. :)

Did we do one on this board in 03? Or was that in the Qtec days?

Do you guys wheel down or trailer in a convoy? We go to haspen couple times a year and if some one breaks, the guy with trailer pulls broke jeep back and they drive his jeep back, that is if you can trust them with your rig.Im working on wife to go and what a good time to make a christmas list for me.

If I come down solo, I'll be partying at your place Friday night! If I come down with company, it'll likely be a down-n-back.

gotta love the GPS. as long as ya know how to use it and which settin to use...

japcrap guy had wrong settin and ended up goin all the way down to indy and back up 69 to ft wayne...thats what happens when ya have it set on INTERSTATE instead of shortest or quickest route. had to laugh when i called them to make sure they got back ok and they told me they were just gettin out of indy. lmao.

I can't make it. I haven't started my jeep in 2 months :crybaby2: . Mostly due to a missing radiator (and lack of money to fix it), but the other night when I tried to pull forward 2 ft to install inset tail lights my battery was dead and I was too lazy to remove it to charge it. Anyhow, I think I'm moving into my roommate's place in New Lenox, IL that weekend, and spending time with family. Hope ya'll have fun, though!

I'm not gonna say if I'm goin or not...every time I do I end up not going so we'll just have to see. If I do go I'd like to wheel 2 days, don't get down there much and I dont see any sense in just going for one day when I can just pay $10 more and wheel for 2 days. Plus it's hard to hit everything you want to do in one day.

Well.. I'm out. :( This will be the first (and hopefully the last) Turkey Run that I'll miss. The wife is still being kept up all night by the baby, that.. coupled with a boatload of unexpected expenses at the end of this year have made things too tight. :(

i'd like to do 2 days, but the concensus seems to be only one day, and I'm not gonna stay down there and wheel for a day by myself.

We are planning on down and back, too. Has there been a time and place for meeting to convoy over there for those that are going to go over Saturday morning?

I am planning on leaving saturday morning...I think, and possibly staying and wheeling sunday too, not sure yet. I think the usual meetup spot is the BP out on 24.

What time are you all thinking of coming back north? I am in for leaving from Roanoke, but I would rather meet up with the convoy as you pass through Huntington on 24. Right now I am scheduled to work, but I think I can get out of it for Saturday night, then work Sunday night. I know I can leave when i get ready, but I was wondering to take a half shift or whole shift Saturday.

they close at 5 so I would assume leaving time would be around 5:30-6:30 depending on who wants to get food, gas, air up tires, etc...

I will most likely head up to the Air machine around 4 or maybe earlier to beat the line. Then if I'm hungry, head to the subway at the marathon and eat. Then head home.

poor little man. turn west (that would be right), on to 24 and follow it it to the big city of roanoke. there are 2 yes count them 2 gas stations in roanoke. and they both are right at the stoplight. both of them are on the right side of the road, one on each side of the intersection. one is actually a handy dandy and the other a BP. easiest way to find which one to go to.....

Down and back the same day.

i'd say in the main lot where we met for april fools run 07. I'm up for every trail! If it's only gonna be for 1 day I'd like to do as much as possible. I've done green once, but none of orange, and I LOVE the quarry.

We will meet in the lower parking lot right next to the
food shack. I'll be driving a dark blue 02 crew cab chevy
with a black trailer and camo cherokee. And i should be
there right about when the gates open. I plan on running orange trail Ive run green to many times lately. This will be my fifth
run there this year.

I was hoping to jump in line on the Jeepervan as you all pass through Huntington. You are taking 24 through Huntington toward Wabash, correct? I would meet ya where 24 heads west from 9, down by the river. I would guess you would all pass through that area about 6:45ish.

Well, for those that where there, to let ya know, I made it home tonight and didnt have to stay at the hotel i reserved lol.

For those that werent there, i blew apart my spider and side gears in the D35. After trying to replace them with no success and playing around with different ideas (which the one that seemed most plausible was stay at hotel, get trailered in the morning), nick mentioned that i could just remove the spiders, reinstall the diff pin, which would keep the side gears from comming out, and drive home in front wheel drive. So thats what we did. Made it home without issue!

Other than that, had a great time. Did a lot more than i thought i would, and after all that i got over confident and tried to go for that hill in the quarry. I hit the rock at the top, bounced up, and when she came down BANG!!!!!! Oh well, made it home safe and it looks like ill be able to use the spiders an side gears i picked up at the badlands shop to get it back on the road.

I waved as I drove by. It seems like it should have been a :flipoff2: kinda wave. :D j/k

I would have stopped, if I would have realized it was our group. We might have been together in the first place if I wasn't late to meet you all. That damn forum clock is still off 1 hour :D

I guess it worked out, because I picked up Alan and his wayward GPS. The way we were heading we would have been in the middle of Purdue campus. Perhaps that was Alan's plan in the first place, we missed out on the college girls :eek2: Sorry Alan!

We had a blast as well. My daugher has told everyone we know about my "damage" to the rear bumper from the tubes. I was just trying to speed up the new Wes/Blue built tire carrier bumper for mine!! I can't wait to go back with you guys. The Orange trial was awesome. I thought for sure I would get stuck a couple times, but never got stuck all day!! Next time we'll have to finish Orange.

Sorry I haven't posted back. I was at Disney World last week and just got home yesterday. Orange trail was awesomw. We did the entire first half of the trail back to the access road. The holes still seemed huge and I thought for sure I would get stuck sooner or later. None of us got stuck, except for Alan leaning on the tree!! Can't wait to go back and do it again!!
