Who does computer reflashing for 05 Jeeps?
The dealerships around here won't do it and will only sell me a refurbished one.
My original computer is toast and the used one I bought needs my VIN installed into it. Good thing is the one I bought matches my old one.

Anyone?

Thank you

if its used, you may not be able to put your vin into it. If i remember from when i worked for a Jeep dealer, they are kind of a one time deal. Once a vin is in it, its in. No other vin can be programmed. If it could be done, i dont see why the dealer wouldnt do it for you. They would charge for it, but I wouldnt see why they just wouldnt do it at all

You need to find someone with a StarScan tool, they should be able to access it and do it for you.
Did you try calling a different dealership?

I'm going to try calling a few more and see what they say.

They don't have a problem doing GM's and Ford at Napa it's just the Jeep stuff that Chrysler won't let the info out to them or at least not all the info.

UGH.

yeah, the star scan tool is pretty expensive, and all its programming is propriatary; and usually only dealers have them. Sometimes shops that do upfitting (truck and van conversions) will have them.

It looks like this one won't work for me from talking to a very helpful dealership. Yes helpful which surprised me as well. Apparently, since I have the transponder key/anti theft device installed it will only work on my matching computer. They didn't think they could make it work with another computer, but I can remove that device and they can reflash the computer as long as I bring the vehicle to them.
Now to weigh my options and go from there.

Thank you for all the help. :acclaim:

depending on what kind of jeep it is, starscan may not be the correct tool. Starscan was mostly for newer than that. It may be a DRBIII thats needed, but either way even with the correct scanner, it may not be able to be done. Like i said, its pretty much a one shot deal for most modules on the chryslers unless they are older, and even then some cant be done. the 02 ram van i had needed a pcm but couldnt use a used one because it cannot have another vin entered without completely reprogramming the module, which dealers cannot do, have to by a remanufactured or new pcm

What he said. We just did a swap in a buddys tj. It was a 97 4 cyl. and he got a 6 from a 2000 with computer and all. We couldnt get it to start. He bought a blank key off ebay, and went to the dealer had it cut to match his ignition and had it programed to match the new computer

No need for computer reflashing... I found the problem with my Jeep and the accident shifted the oil pump shaft AKA distributorless distributor thingy and it was way off. The Cam position sensor should be at the 4 o'clock position and mine was closer to 3 o'clock. I loosened up the bolt turned it slightly and matched up the alignment holes and presto... the thing runs like it's brand spanking new.
Finally it runs again like it should.

Thank you for all the help.
