Does anyone own an old cheif? Or any photos of any full size jeeps would be nice.Love the old school jeeps. Some day I would like to get a 79 cheif and retore it, but that will be later in life. Last I heard my dads old cherokee ended up at mills, but I've never been there to look. It was burgundy with black gold flaked fender flares and khaki or lght green interior anyone seen this there?

Not gonna find a FSJ Cherokee around here
Trust me, if there was one for sale close by, I'd know about it! HAHAHA

Your best bet would be to search for a Wagoneer.
More plentiful and often, cheaper

There was an 79 Chief I went at looked at in Birdseye, Indiana about 4.5 hours from FTW, wayyyy down south.
Here is my report on the find:
http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=97867

The owner was wanting $550, but it was way to much a project for me.
Had a great 12 hour day to drive down and check it out...but I passed.
I dunno if the owner still has it or not.

Anyways, www.ifsja.org is the other place I would check out for a W/T Cherokee.
There are several members in the area.

Sadly, if your heart is for a '79 Chief, IMHO, you will need to travel a long distance to get one.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, check the floors for rust.
Most everything can be fixed.
Rusty floors and the Wide Track flares makes old beater much, much more difficult to fix up nice.
I had to go to Chattanooga, TN to get the front clip for my J10 the I wrecked.
Even then the sheet metal was not the best, but it usable.

Good Luck!
If I can help...let me know
