ax5 with a 231. the 231 will be a 21 spline input. This is the eaisest and cheapest swap. what do you have in it now? if you have the tranny you like, auto/stick. just change the tail housing on the tranny to a 4wd model, and install a transfercase.

you can find an ax15 and swap the bellhousing to a dodge unit, and install behind the 4cyl.

the 4 cyl bellhousing will let you mount up a toyota g and w series tranny, and this will let you do the toyota transfercase doubler.

anyway... have fun. oh, this is john, adam left it logged in... :-)

Thanks for the info...here's the deal...

I have the 2.5L in the truck with a 4 speed stick tranny in it....and I'm working a deal to buy a XJ with 4.0 in it...the 4.0 is going to someone else and I'm wanting to use that t-case/tranny/axles/drive shaft to convert my to 4wd....if its not doable I'll probably still pick it up and have parts for sale...can't pass up the price
