It was mentioned that Rough Country offers a lift as an alternative to the admittedly expensive OME kits.

I took a look at this today and there is one problem with it. It uses spacers for the front springs/struts.

MOST of the reason why people are putting lifts on their KJs is because the factory springs are notorious for sagging very early. To the point that they are often referred to as pre-lowered or factory-lowered. OME sells thier lift as a 1.5" lift because going by stock original specs that is all you get.. but in reality stock coils deteriorate so quickly that the lift actually translates to almost 3".

So putting a spacer in the front does not resolve the problem it only lifts the front up.

and.

by putting in a spacer in the front you are not extending the travel that the front suspension is capable of. There is no additional articulation, so you're just propagating the issue of the poor oem springs. With the spacer at full compress you will be stacking your springs and weakening them even more..

This isnt a statement of the quality of the Rough Country solution.. just an observation on its shortcomings ...

IF they were to offer a front spring/strut replacement solution they would be easier to consider.

IMHO
