Going up a hill, semi going down the hill. Air hit just right snapped the hood straps and unhooked it from the hood latch and up it went. I was lucky. Yay for insurance.

was doing 60mph i got lucky i was able to slow down and pull over. I almost pulled over into a ditch lol. Need a new hood and windshield. Going to get Offroad metal hood tiedowns. Insurance has me at a $500 deductible sadly so new everything instead of fixing.

Sorry about your luck. I can't believe both the straps and the latch failed. Glad you are OK.

See.. that's a fear of mine with the JKU. When going down the highway, you can see the hood struggling against the rubber latches. It makes me want to get hood pins. Glad you are ok.

Just saw in the latest 4-Wheeler, Daystar has aftermarket urethane hood straps for the JK. Looks like a good upgrade, and assuming the review was accurate, they completely eliminated the hood flutter.

Mine doesn't bounce too crazy much but I know what you mean. Seeing this kinda has me thinking

Well i got it back today. Held tight on the way home but i still worry. I think im still going to invest in those metal locking hood latches. But the new hood looks great. they changed the windshield sprayers from a double to a single since i guess that is how the new hood was set up. Ill take pics later and post them. They penstriped the hood to match the jeep but i guess the jeeps stripes were faded so they pinstriped the whole jeep to match lol.

Glad you got it back. On a positive note, the wind helped me out the other day. I was able to run 60mph in 5th gear easily with a tailwind! 5th gear almost never happens under normal circumstances!
